Together with 2017’s Second Beach project and the recently completed Third Beach Project, the Scenic Aquidneck Coalition has now removed a total of 160 utility poles, buried the multiple power and phone lines they carried, and significantly improved the coastal utility infrastructure’s ability to bounce back after storms.

Scenic Third Beach

The Scenic Third Beach Project was a multi-year scenic improvement project that buried power and communications lines along Third Beach Road and Indian Avenue in Middletown, Rhode Island. The project area – known as “Paradise Valley” – is an extraordinary place rich in history, beauty and wildlife. Burying the lines has improved the overall scenic appeal of this special place, restored the historic landscape and promotes coastal resiliency for the benefit of the community.

Second Beach

In 2017, the Scenic Aquidneck Coalition and U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service completed a similar utility project on Sachuest Point Road (alongside Second Beach) in Middletown, Rhode Island. Due to the public’s support and the project’s success, we were inspired to initiate a new project near Third Beach.
